Horizon - Clive Sinclair, the anatomy of an inventor (1989)
Old BBC documentary on a key figure in the history of consumer computing, particularly the UK. While everyone knows the stories of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates in the US, Sinclair was the first to bring the home computer at an affordable price to many. He was also an inventor, and brought to the public market the worlds first digital calculator, digital watch, and portable television.
Dot-To-Dot E-Paper Concept Watch Design via Tokyo Flash
Design concept for a watch that displays time like a Dot-to-Dot puzzle (see animated GIF below)

“The idea for this watch design concept comes from dot to dot drawing. These “coded” images have their own artistic appeal and make an interesting display for a watch. The time is told by numbered dots. This might be confusing at first, because the numbers don’t tell the time directly. One quickly figures out that the dots have to be connected to show the four digits of the time display. If there is not enough time or imagination, there is a button for a quick solution. But why not solve it yourself? You can join the dots with your finger thanks to the touch sensitive e-paper display.
Circuit Board Watches via Crave
The watches come in two versions: One is equipped with DIP switches while the other uses a turn switch.
Each switch activates a different function on the watch. These include time display modes (12 hours, 24 hours and even bar graphs), calendar dates and the backlighting controls.

Rorschach Time Concept Watch by Samuel Jerichow via Yanko Design
This idea is crazier than anything Tokyo Flash has put together, yet undeniably desireable. This animation, below, apparently explains how it works:

The Rorschach inkblot test is famous for gauging one’s perception and imagination so designer Samuel Jerichow decided to use it tell time. The Rorschach watch has an e-ink display that generates inkblots to tell time. It’s a little difficult to read but once your eye is trained to recognize the patterns, it should become second nature.
