Audio visual EP by Gabriel Shalom combining music and fashion, sampling sounds of clothing edited to make songs:
Our clothes express our personalities. But different outfits make us feel different. We might have a preferred sweater or favorite pair of boots, but on any given day our clothes only reveal one side of ourselves …
The meticulous editing synchronizes to the music, music made from the raw material of the sounds of the clothes we see in the frame. This concrete musical approach is a signature for Shalom. Each video credits the various articles of clothing for the instrumental sounds they make. A blouse becomes a snare drum; an earring becomes a synthesizer; leggings make the sounds of hi-hats.
