Radio Soulwax Presents Dave
An hour-long tribute to David Bowie, both mixtape and new music video - an hour well spent:
RSWX presents Dave from Radio Soulwax on Vimeo.
Our homage to the man whose ability to change whilst remaining himself has been a massive influence on us. There are many legends in the music industry but for us, there is no greater than the mighty Dave. We’ve included all things Bowie, whether that is original songs, covers, backing vocals, production work or reworks we made, to attempt to give you the full scope of the man’s genius.
For the visual side to this mix our friend Wim Reygaert (who also made the amazing film for Into The Vortex) came up with the most ambitious film for RSWX, taking us on a fever dream time travel through the man’s career starring the amazing Hannelore Knuts as Dave. We’ve got to extend a special thank you to the cast and crew and everyone involved for putting so much time and energy and heart and soul into this amazing film, it is a pure labour of love for the phenomenon that is Bowie.
Boards of Canada - Live on Disengage Show (2000)
A recording of a live set recorded from the UK’s Kiss FM radio station, about an hour long.

Corpus Octo 2
An Exquisite-Corpse mix by various DJs around the world have created a mix from various obscure European 70s horror soundtrack music and psychedelic rock which feels appropriate for both Halloween and dark Autumn nights:
8 obsessive record collectors, musicians, producers and mix creators found a common sound and built a small community around it in Mixcloud.
Corpus Octo is an International Collaborative Mix Project born from this community that has winged it’s way digitally between each contributor. For our second project we have delved into the darker regions of our collections, digging up cult British Horror Soundtracks, Heavy Giallo Grooves and Rare TV Incidental Music to create a unique soundtrack for a film that exists only in our minds and the ether.

The Beat Oracle: 09/08/2012: Unused Calendar
Second recommended mix is the latest one from The Beat Oracle show, two hours of future music - best show I’ve heard in awhile, highly recommended:
The summer may be coming to a close, but the season is still ripe for future music! This week we play a host of new releases to usher in the autumn. Part one features the new single from Flying Lotus (with some help from Erykah Badu), a track from Daphni’s (aka Caribou) debut album, the latest from the Sea and Cake, a hypnotic cut from Holy Other’s debut LP, and another week means another new album from bvdub, this time under his East of Oceans moniker (a must listen). In Part two you’ll hear the much anticipated return of Lukid, the soulful beats of Jessie Ware, more from the legendary Radioactive Man, a brand new track from Matthew Dear’s new album “Beams,” and Michael Mayer closes things out with a great remix of Gui Boratto’s “This is Not the End.” Certainly not.
Tracklist:

RA.329 Gaslamp Killer
One of two recommended mixes I’ll share this evening … first, a 45 minute mix of eclectic edginess:
How and where was the mix recorded?
In my room at my house in Los Angeles on ProTools with my Dr. Sample 303.
Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
It’s one of my best mixes yet. The first part is all about the heavy newer beat music with a bunch of unreleased stuff from my worldwide crew of beat making friends. The second part is a little more hip-hop turntablist influenced and the third part is all brand new GLK Breakthrough material!
No tracklist, but you can download the mix and read an interview at Resident Advisor here
Prosthetic Knowledge Picks: CurAudio / DocuMP3
A collection of audio content from the Prosthetic Knowledge Tumblr archive and around the web.

Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix
A tribute to the Beastie Boy’s ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album - 3 years in the making, 3 DJs, a mix in itself and semi-documentary - via DJ Food:
3 years in the making, 3 DJs working with over 150 tracks to recreate one of the seminal sampling albums of all time, at last Cheeba, Moneyshot and I can reveal ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’. Our tribute to the classic Beastie Boys album ‘Paul’s Boutique’ remixed and re-imagined from all the original samples plus a cappellas, period interviews and the Beasties’ own audio commentary from the reissued release …
The tracklist is too huge to put here, but it can be found at DJ Food’s blog here
RA Podcast: Apparat
50-minute electronica mix, described as ‘Melodic melancholia’, is actually upbeat:
The drums and arrangements may have evolved around it, but melody has always remained central to Sascha Ring’s craft. Cast an ear back to 2001’s Multifunktionsebene and it’s there wafting over the IDM-informed glitch; fast-forward to 2011’s Devil’s Walkand it’s leading delicate songs you could hear on the radio. In the time between these two full-lengths Ring became one of Germany’s preeminent electronic artists. 2006’s Orchestra of Bubbles alongside fellow Berliner Ellen Allien hit as interest in the sounds of the city were reaching fever pitch. A similarly Berlin-centric project was conceived in 2009 with the release of Moderat, Ring’s collaboration with Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary of Moderat. His live solo material had by this point taken on the form of a band, set-up to tour his crossover full-length Walls. The show was expanded upon for last year’s Devil’s Walk, Ring’s most introverted and traditionally structured offering yet.

PING - Mixtape by Kelpe
An eclectic mixtape put together for oki-ni around the theme of the game, from Radiohead to Flying Lotus, and Sterolab to Can:
‘As it’s pretty much the only sport I like (now I’m too old to skateboard) and since we just had those Olympics, this is a mix of tracks that either sample, sound like they sample, or loosely reference table tennis.
‘As with any “themed” mix some of the links for tracks are a bit tenuous, especially as I wanted to restrict it to music that I actually LIKE (no inclusion of Enrique Iglesias’s Ping Pong Song here). For example, Stereolab’s Ping Pong isn’t really about Table Tennis but it’s there in the title, and Bucephalus Bouncing Balll isn’t a Table Tennis ball, but it’s Aphex Twin so surely we can make allowances.
Tracklist (Player embedded above):
野生の野望: YMO-Related Japanese Pop Mix
Put together by Root Blog, a 17 track compilation of quality 80’s Japanese pop music, all related to members of Yellow Magic Orchestra:
This is a compilation (with separate tracks, i.e. not “mixed”) that I gave to some friends last Christmas season as crash course to Hosono/Sakamoto/Takahashi’s pop productions. Had a few people request that I up it here…so, here you go!
Miharu Koshi – “Parallelisme” from Parallelisme
Testpattern – “Souvenir Glacé” from Apres Midi
Yukihiro Takahashi – “Curtains” from Neuromantic
Chakra – “You Need Me” from Satekoso
Tamao Koike – “Automne Dans Un Miroir” from Automne Dans Un Miroir
Yellow Magic Orchestra – “Gradated Grey” from Technodelic
Sandii – “Zoot Koot” From Eating Pleasure
Susan – “I Only Come Out At Night” from The Girl Can’t Help It
Haruomi Hosono – “Sports Man” from Philharmony
Miharu Koshi – “Scandal Night” from Tutu
Haruomi Hosono – “Strange Love” from S.F.X.
Hajime Tachibana – “Rock (New Version)” from Yen Memorial Album
Masami Tsuchiya – “Rice Music” from Rice Music
Ryuichi Sakamoto – “Thatness and Thereness” from B-2 Unit
David Sylvian & Ryuichi Sakamoto – “Bamboo Music” from Bamboo Houses
Yellow Magic Orchestra – “Wild Ambitions” from Naughty Boys
Taeko Ohnuki – “Inori” from Alfa/Yen: We Wish You a Merry Christmas
It was hard to choose one track as an example (it could have been the slower-paced yet suductive “Zoot Koot”), but choose something more pop, catchy, and fun.
