Illustrated people autumn winter 2012
More proof the internet is inspiring more fashion, with this promo for Illustrated People combining lo-fi polygon computer art and GIF models with contemporary hip-hop:
Illustrated people autumn winter 2012 from PABLO & JOSH on Vimeo.
The promo was put together by Pablo Jones-soler, Joshgreet, and Bradley Bell - this is what Pablo has to say about it:
The idea for the video is based on the quote from Jello Biafra “For every prohibition you create you also create an underground. “
It tells the story of these paradoxical super commercialised, luxury, underground sects rising up against an oppressive overlord. it looks at the way big brands try to portray themselves as underground and at the language of commercial spaces and point of sale stands.
Kingdom Crumbs - Evoking Spirits
Pleasantly trippy and chaotic music video for Kingdom Crumbs put together by Ori Toor - video embedded below, and HD is highly recommended:

Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix
A tribute to the Beastie Boy’s ‘Paul’s Boutique’ album - 3 years in the making, 3 DJs, a mix in itself and semi-documentary - via DJ Food:
3 years in the making, 3 DJs working with over 150 tracks to recreate one of the seminal sampling albums of all time, at last Cheeba, Moneyshot and I can reveal ‘Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix’. Our tribute to the classic Beastie Boys album ‘Paul’s Boutique’ remixed and re-imagined from all the original samples plus a cappellas, period interviews and the Beasties’ own audio commentary from the reissued release …
The tracklist is too huge to put here, but it can be found at DJ Food’s blog here
BASS IN YOUR FASS by DJ Kikkoman
Mix number two - a great hour long hip-hop / beats mix:
A live mix of some ill ass beats by some of my favorite beatsmiths… I put on a monthly party of the same name and this is some typical music of what you might hear (among other woofer blowing tunes). This mix is a little rough around the edges but the tracks themselves are a little rough around the edges so it works enough. I’m happy with it for now… Just hit record and go, chose records on the fly… Maybe I’ll go back and clean it up but that would take a long time so… C’est la vie…
If you like any of the songs, look the artist up, there’s lots more where this came from… only scratchin’ the surface…

Born Ready To Die

Mashup album combining samples from Lana Del Ray’s album with vocals from Notorious B.I.G. 15 tracks from it are in the embedded player above.
[I have to admit, I’m not personally keen on either of these artists, but these albums have interesting results, and could be of interest to others … ]
In honor of Biggie’s passing 15 years ago on March 9, 1997… I wanted to do a special project.
Mick Boogie and I honored the anniversary of his passing with a special project called Unbelievable, which was hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs and exceded 500k downloads online.
But to pay tribute this time, I wanted to do something different. Merge music styles. Bridge audiences together in new ways.
So I proudly present to you along with the homies from Dope Couture… Lana Del Rey and Notorious Big…
Born Ready To Die.The music from Lana’s Born To Die… remixed and resampled.
The lyrics from Biggie’s Ready To Die… still timeless after all these years. It’s a perfect marriage… dark and mysterious… soulful and gritty.
Lana told Vogue Magazine that Biggie was one of her biggest musical influences… and now… he is her musical collaborator.
I present to you… Born Ready To Die.

Bon Rappetite - The World’s First Hip Hop Restaurant

“Bon Rappetite is the world’s first hip hop restaurant. Featuring a delicious menu that caters to the ballers.
