From my inbox (and a sense of humour goes a long way …)
Hey there,
How’s it going?
First up, while I admittedly only visit the site once in a while, I’m a fan of Prosthetic Knowledge and wanted to reach out and give you an email high-five. I’m sure I’m not the first to say that I hope your services to gaming, entertainment and general geekery continue long into the future.
Secondly, I’ve got something here that may be mutually beneficial. I recently inherited two million Ugandan dollars and require your trust in transfe… no no no, don’t worry. We’re not going there!
Don’t know if you’ve come across it yet, but Iron Man Mode is a comedy gaming site in which myself and a bunch of rock-star writers are raising money for Child’s Play charity. We’re playing a whole bunch of great games (both indy and mainstream) from Final Fantasy 7 to Minecraft and heaps in between. The twist is we play with only one life - once we’re dead, the blog and game are completely over. Instantly.
It’s more for fun than anything, but as mentioned, 100% of revenue raised goes to the Child’s Play Charity. Donatees get free advertising and warm feelings. Details here:??www.ironmanmode.com/donate?
If you are only willing and able to donate a single dollar or would rather buy a shirt, that’s superb! We’re very close to the humble target we set earlier in the year and want to overshoot it and keep going. If not, no wozzas - even if you were to simply share the love on Prosthetic Knowledge or anywhere else where potential donate-ees may be lurking, that would be massively appreciated…?otherwise, just have a read and enjoy.
Thanks again mate. Take it easy in the mean time, and if there’s anything I can do in return, just give me a shout.?
Yours in Awesomeness,
Zx??
Somewhere, a US government official is reading through a list of those who sent or received an email from Jacob Appelbaum, a 28-year-old computer science researcher at the University of Washington who volunteered for WikiLeaks. Among those listed will be my name, a journalist who interviewed Appelbaum for a book about the digital revolution.
Appelbaum has not been charged with any wrongdoing; nor has the government shown probable cause that he is guilty of any criminal offence.
That matters not a jot, because, as the law stands, government officials don’t need a search warrant to access our digital data.

Facebook set to launch ‘Gmail killer’ email system via The Guardian
Social networking firm expected to unveil @facebook.com email that could make it a serious rival to Gmail.

ToneCheck
Interesting application idea - an email plugin (for Outlook … for the moment) that checks the emotional tone of your message to help avoid incorrect interpretation.

Write by hand on your computer! Go to www.pilothandwriting.com, turn your handwriting into a digital font and send handwritten e-mails to your friends.
Obviously, this is just a marketing gimmick (and has been done before many times), but using a webcam is something new, and I like the idea of a faux-handwritten email.

Quite liking this - all your online email accounts, twitter and facebook in one place. Worth having a look.
