1001 TV Sets (End Piece)
Installation art piece by David Hall, using television sets of various ages, all on during the removal of analogue TV signals in the UK - via Time Out London:
The work features 1001 cathode ray tube TV sets, of various ages, all tuned to random analogue stations which, as the signals are turned off between April 4-14 , will gradually change the sound in the space from a cacophony of overlapping audio to a hiss of white noise.

I’ve just come across the Vimeo profile of this video artist, and have to say I’m impressed.
Utilizing analogue video processing effects which give it a familiar older feel, yet contemporarily creative. I choose this video as I think this is the most accessible, but I recommend Bleu Nuit for a longer yet beautiful example.

Interesting Flickr collection featuring experiments with analog video. He also has a blog on the subject which is worth a look.
37 Synthesized Patterns by LZXIndustries
A demonstration of the LZX Visionary modular video synthesizer used for direct synthesis techniques, meaning that no external image was used in the creation of these clips — with the exception of a couple, which use a feedback camera to introduce extra modulation. Modules used include the basic system of 8 modules, including three Video Waveform Generator signal sources. A variety of techniques are used including oscillator frequency and waveshape modulation, keying, voltage controlled mixing, signal summing and absolute mode summing. No post-processing or manipulation has been added. Audio from the track Omniverse by S U R V I V E.

0FF0N - pixelated homage to the great experimental video art piece ‘OFFON’ by Scott Bartlett
I was experimenting with the original footage to see whether a version with a digital feel could be accomplished with this footage. Sadly, I don’t think I achieved this with this version, but I think a more polished version is possible.
Its best in HD and full screen, to be able to witness the pixelated effect.

John Whitney “Catalog” 1961 via crystalsculpture2
John Whitney’s demo reel of work created with his analog computer/film camera magic machine he built from a WWII anti-aircraft gun sight. Also Whitney and the techniques he developed with this machine were what inspired Douglas Trumbull (special fx wizard) to use the slit scan technique on 2001: A Space Odyssey
