A simple HTML5 animation application inspired by MacPaint, Deluxe Paint and MSPaint.

GoldMosh
An upcoming release of a “family of applications to make datamoshing easy, intuitive, and available for artists and the general public”, written by Sam Goldstein. Demonstration video below:

This was was a big year for a certain file format. We witnessed the 25th anniversary of the GIF, the first ever live-GIFing of presidential debates, a large-scale GIF festival and the selection of “GIF” (as a verb, as in to create a GIF file) as U.S. Word of the Year by Oxford Dictionaries.
All that, and we still can’t seem to decide how to pronounce it. (I’m a militant proponent of the soft g version — as in, Jiff — simply because that’s how the programmers who developed it pronounced it and it seems right to respect their thinking on the matter.)

Thanks to everyone who follows everything here, either on Tumblr or RSS or whatever system you use, I’m glad this little ‘thing’ I run here is appreciated by many, and hope to bring as much interesting stuff as I can.

Back from hiatus …
Hi all …
Who would have thought that for many months, commuting, working a day job, researching and working on a blog into the late hours with (usually much) less than 5 hours sleep every night, with a change of season, and spending no quality on anything would make me a sensitive, anxious, tired individual …
Yes, I’m an idiot … and … caffeine is one hell of a drug …
In some ways, I wish I could make this blog work financially, but I don’t think anyone else has managed a magic formula, and I can’t see myself doing so either. But I can’t see myself giving this up, it’s something I enjoy doing, and I very much will continue to run it :)
I have to say, thank you to EVERYONE who sent well wishes to me, you know who you are, and you know I am grateful to every single one of you. You make this endeavour all the more worthwhile …
Oh … and V5MT … you’re an absolute star …

Hi there, I’m wondering if anyone here can help me out …
Someone here on my dashboard posted a quote from an article - the gist of it was ” … we use stuff from small creative scenes and use them to keep our artist’s fresh “, referring to the likes of A-list performers.
Does anyone here rememer posting it, and where it came from?
And yes, it was BEFORE the Rhianna performance on SNL - coolhunters and coolhunting is nothing new ..

Finding it a little frustrating when posts which I put together after lengthy research periods find their way to A-List sites, only to be credited to a reblog …
Two today, first at Boing Boing [credited link], now The Verge [Credited Link]
Nothing against the rebloggers themselves - it’s just having to spend a couple of hours putting gifs together to attract attention to a video which would likely to be skimmed away, only to be credited to someone else is a little frustrating …
I know it’s the internet, I know it’s lame to moan about it (and I’m not moaning at Tumblr itself)
