Catzilla
A PC Demo / PC benchmark / animation of a monstrous cat destroying a city, put together by the Plastic Demoscene Group - worth a watch:
Catzilla from Plastic Demoscene Group on Vimeo.
Catzilla is our latest project to date. It’s a realtime PC benchmark that will get all the juices from your PC.
Finally we had some time to make a proper demo. It was made with a nice collaboration with Platige Image.
We did the code, they did the art. The music was made exclusively by Bent ‘subsquare’ Stamnes.
Thanks for watching!

16 Bit Home Computer Graphics Archive
Werner Randelshofer has set up an ample collection of computer graphic animations from the 80’s and 90’s, both commercial and home-grown. Examples come from works demonstrated on the Commodore Amiga, the Atari ST and the PC.
The examples above are only a taster of what has been documented - there is plenty of 2D stills and animation, but also early experimentation with 3D. Plenty of what you see is work before the GIF file format or Flash were invented.
You can explore the collection here
Solitaire Win
Old Windows Solitaire victory of jumping cards as 3D Sculpture
Rrrola - Ameisen (32 bytes, MS DOS, 2007)
An MS-DOS demo coded in 32 bytes (in other words, incredibly low, especially for a PC).
Made by Rrrola … Looks better in 32 bytes than 300 megabytes. Download the original file @ rrrola.wz.cz/files/mravenci.zip and play it with dosbox.com
I’m guessing this is uses simple rules to generate an abstract effect, much like cellular automata. The link above provides a zip with this demo and others to try on your PC.
automation by Digital Devotion (via thedemoscene)
Released at Assembly 2005
Believe it or not, this is a type of demo that is restricted to 4K of memory (or 4096 bytes).
You can download this and run it on a PC, this file which can be found here
Crysis - iZ3D Driver (via XD3D)
Console manufacturers would have you believe you have to spend hundreds of pounds on New TV’s, new glasses and buy special 3D games to play in 3D like this.
Not so, this is a live screen shot from Crysis when played in anaglyph 3D using the iZ3D Driver (freeware), look at the colours and clarity of the image its superb. You can adjust paralax and move the whole scene in and out of the screen all on the fly during live game play.
Im fed up with the big 3D con, im seriously considering moving back to the PC for games, when every single game, even ones as graphically complex as Crysis can be played in High Def 3D at no extra cost, with your existing equipment.
The iZ3D driver can be downloaded here, it has minimal effect on frame rate and will work on all 3D games on your PC if you have a half decent graphics card.

Flickr, believe it or not, was originally set up as a service to provide screen captures from computers, another example of a technology created that became popular despite its intended origins (see also internet, the telephone etc …)
This is a pic from my brother Paul, he makes HD screengrabs from modern day computer games.
A web filter to block all religious content on the web, for Windows and Mac:
GodBlock is a web filter that blocks religious content. It is targeted at parents and schools who wish to protect their kids from the often violent, sexual, and psychologically harmful material in many holy texts, and from being indoctrinated into any religion before they are of the age to make such decisions. When installed properly, GodBlock will test each page that your child visits before it is loaded, looking for passages from holy texts, names of religious figures, and other signs of religious propaganda. If none are found, then your child is allowed to browse freely.
The latest Commodore (USA) PC build
There’s nothing like a Commodore. At just 17.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall, it’s designed to take up far less room — and use far less energy — than any other desktop computer.
Designed by shahaf levavi:
this is a living room computer disguise as a shelf to give a visual comfort when off and to maximize it’s potential when on. it has a set of speakers and a projector.
