Neil’s 1000th Alamo Screening: OLDBOY
This would be a great idea for cinemas and loyal customers - a guy has regularly seen films at the Alamo Drafthouse cinema, and got to see one of his favourites for his 1000th screening:
We here at the Drafthouse are very lucky to have passionate and extremely devoted customers. Last week though we discovered a patron who might just redefine “Alamo regular.” Neil Wilson is about to hit his 1000th(!) Drafthouse show. According to Neil’s count, he saw 453 shows in 2010, 445 in 2011, and already 80 and counting in 2012. With this momentous 1000th show fast approaching, Neil asked us to program some of his favorite films that he’s been dying to see on our screens. On the very top of that list was the South Korean vengeance masterpiece OLDBOY. We whole-heartedly supported this choice. And so, we’re proudly presenting a very special screening of OLDBOY on glorious 35mm for Neil’s 1000th Alamo show!
Christian Bale could be Oldboy’s villain
With filming on The Dark Knight Rises coming to a close in the autumn, Christian Bale is on the lookout for his next big project. And from the sound of things, he won’t be stuck for options.
Variety reports that top of Bale’s list of options is the role of the villain in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake. To clarify, that’s the chap who locks up the film’s hero in a hotel room for a soul-sapping 15 years.
If the film is anything like the Korean original, the character will be a fiend the like of which Bale has never played before, and might make for a good change-up from his recent cape-clad heroics.
But Oldboy isn’t the only project Bale is currently considering…
I like this idea of casting :)
(RE)WORKING TITLES: OLDBOY
Reworking Titles is a project by graphic artist Dan Sherratt where he re-vamps and re-imagines film posters so that they become all new different levels of awesome.
Dan’s thoughts on this poster: It’s been a while since I first saw Oldboy, as those of you that have seen it will know there are some scenes from it that don’t really require a second viewing in order to remember them vividly. Here I tried to capture one of the greatest fight scenes in cinema history, taking place inside the lone weapon

Oldboy = Instant reblog, and very nice work (love the Hangul hammers!)
Classic scene from the film ‘Oldboy’ in ZX Spectrum graphics style (Lower resolution pixels - still HD - better for small embeds)

One of the better paper toys sites, featuring characters that I actually love. Some more examples:

Oh Dae-Su (from the film ‘OldBoy’, played by Choi Min-Sik - model includes hammer!)

Worth checking out if you’re bored and feel slightly creative.
