Down and Out by Matthew Williamson
Latest exhibit from the online Net-Art Fach & Asendorf gallery.
There is no statement or description for the work, so all I can offer is a description without (hopefully) ruining it, and I have to say, it’s a very different yet satisfying experience from a Net Art piece for as long as I remember …
It can be described as a collection of 25 works, all short videos featuring an example of 3D forms or virtual sculptures, as you can see in the above GIFs. Accompanying the visuals are off-the-cuff commentary by the artist, which are both pondering and laid-back, brief odd tangents related to culture and technology, such as ‘What is it like to go through a dead celebrity’s hard drive’, ‘cellphone love’, ‘The size of televisions for poor TV show characters have become widescreen’, and ‘They should make a Cocaine app for iPhone’ amongst the Douglas Coupland-esque oddities.
